MOSCOW, RIA Novosti. Regular physical activity makes it easier to cope with the coronavirus, according to the study “Fitness vs Corona”, which is at the disposal of RIA Novosti.

“Those who exercise regularly (at least twice a week) are 25% less likely to get COVID than those who quit exercising since March. Regular exercise helps to better cope with COVID in 49% of cases,” the study said.

Among the respondents, 85% said they did not have a coronavirus, 15% said they had it. In turn, among respondents who underwent coronavirus, there were more seriously ill respondents among those who do not exercise than among those who exercise regularly.

At the same time, 15% of respondents indicated that they had stopped training in fitness clubs, and 6% said that they had stopped any kind of physical activity since March.

“Based on the results of this survey, we received important confirmation for the entire industry: fitness classes, maintaining a healthy lifestyle help a person to get sick less often and, most importantly, it is easier to tolerate viral diseases, including COVID-19,” said the President of the Association of Fitness Industry Operators (AOFI) Olga Kiseleva, whose words are quoted in the study.

A joint study by the Association of Fitness Operators and Content Research was conducted in November using an online survey. It was attended by about 7,800 respondents living in all federal districts of Russia. The sample included clients, former clients of fitness clubs, as well as supporters of a healthy lifestyle and amateur athletes.
